24 HOURS TO GET THE RALLY ITALIA SARDEGNA STARTED |

OLBIA, 19/06/2013 - The Rally Italia Sardegna 2013, the world event organized by the Automobile Club of ItaIy with the fundamental cooperation of the Region Sardegna, is really getting going today with the 2nd pre-rally reconnaissance.
52 crews, out of the entered 56, have managed to pass the scrutineering and will therefore be able to take part in the competition.
Competitors that won´t start the rally tomorrow are: n.23, the Brazilian Daniel Oliveira (Ford Focus Wrc), n. 45 the Spanish Alexander Villanueva (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X), n.86 the French Cyrille Feraud (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X) and n.99 Raffaele Donadio ( Fiat Panda) from Sardinia.
From tomorrow morning the competition will be really getting going with the shakedown at 8hrs and the qualifying stage at 11 hrs on the gravel roads of Monte Pinu. The Geovillage Pool will host at 13hrs the starting drivers selection while at 19hrs the ceremonial Start of the Rally is going to take place in Sassari at Piazza d´Italia. Drivers´ start off will be given by the ACI President Sticchi Damiani and the FIA President Jean Todt, for the first time in Sardinia to attend the Rally Italia Sardegna.
On Friday 20th, 8 stages will be run in Sassari province and through Gallura area, with other 8 special stages on Saturday along the Monte Acuto gravel roads.
304 km of competitive timed stages with 16 special stages on the whole will be able to decide the winner of the seventh round of the world rally championship.
The contest is open to any outcome with Sébastien Ogier and the Volkswagen Polo R Wrc actually the true reigning leaders of this world season which featured Ogier classifying three times out of the 6 rounds held up to now.
First of all Ogier will have to fight with his team mate Jari-Matti Latvala, recent winner in Greece, and then also with Citroen Ds3 Wrc both drivers, Mikko Hirvonen and Dani Sordo.
Also running for victory the Ford Fiestas Wrd by MSport with Mads Ostberg, Evgeny Novikov, Thierry Neuville and the young Elfyn Evans, replacing Nasser Al-Attiyah, and to end with, in Wrc 2, the past F1 driver Robert Kubica is now well heading to repeat here in Sardinia his win, gained in Greece on a Citroen Ds3 Rrc. Also in the Wrc 2, the Italians Lorenzo Bertelli (Ford Fiesta Rrc) and Marco Vallario (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X), while the Wrc 3 reports Simone Campedelli whose competition must be watched carefully as this driver really wants to win his category.
Finally, a Press Conference is also featuring on tomorrowThursday 20th, in Arzachena at Piazza Risorgimento by the City Hall Council at 17hrs. The sporting competition of the «Rally Italia Sardegna» will be central to the conference and the Sardinian local Bodies commonly sharing a strong will and a cooperative feeling for hosting the Rally in Sardinia for the years to come. With the Major of Arzachena, Alberto Ragnedda, the President of the Region Sardinia Ugo Cappellacci will be attending the conference together with the ACI President Sticchi Damiani and the FIA President Jean Todt.
