OGIER. “It’ s all going very well. I’m very happy with my start and heading, furthermore I also won two specials out of three. I think that the nightime stage is the real wildcard of this first section because it’s a technical hard run.”
HIRVONEN. “Everything’s fine despite all my tyres worn out, maybe because I pushed a lot on the brakes. We’re always running on the limit and taking too many risks: it’s a very tough rally”.
OSTBERG. “Quite good, the specials are very slippery but at the second round they should improve. It’s hot but not too bad”.
SORDO. “All ok, I’m driving fast but not overdoing because this is the first time on Castelsardo and Tergu stages as I didn’t participate last year”.
NEUVILLE. “We’ve spinned the car off over the last special stage losing a few seconds but I cannot complain on the whole, I’ very happy with my performance so far especially because this a very challenging rally with very slippery trials”.
MIKKELSEN. “During the first stage I bumped onto something with the left rear and damaged the steering. The car is very difficult to drive”.
LATVALA. “I’ve got a good feeling with the car and I’m driving smoothly; such a pity the puncture over the first stage! I drove onto a stone in my line after 5 km from the start of the stage; a slow puncture has affected my pace from then on and I dropped almost 2 minutes”.
KUBICA. “I got scared over the last special when I started to lose control during a fast left turn. I managed to recover pretty good though the car got damaged and that’s clearly visible on the rear”.
AL KUWARI. “I lost about 20” upon the last pre-stage time control because of the timekeepers who gave our pace notes back only at the very last moment. Thus I dropped one position. I believe the matter has to be cleared with the race direction”.
BERTELLI. “All really fine so far but it could improve further. We had the same problem as Al Kuwari. This shouldn’t have happened cause we lost time for no reason.”
